Background:

The Google Calendar Import project enables a Drupal site using it to import the full details of both Google Calendars and the events in those calendars, as Drupal Entities, and keep them updated. There is currently no useful regression testing set up for the module because doing anything interesting currently needs both a link to Google and credentials.

Topic 1: Test Framework

This topic is to find ways to work around this limitation to enable at least some useful testing. The Google API is not the simplest thing to work with and there are many pitfalls to avoid. It would be nice to ensure that testing covers those pitfalls, though my understanding of them is incomplete. The issue is here: https://www.drupal.org/project/google_calendar/issues/3089100

Topic 2: Use Google API Client

There is another area of programming interest: moving the module from the google_secrets module to the more generic google_api_client module: https://www.drupal.org/project/google_calendar/issues/3161318. There is in the issue queue an initial implementation of this, but I feel more work is needed on it to avoid losing things from this module, especially in migrating the existing setup Wizard pages.

Topic 3: Review Documentation

Finally, should anyone wish to review and/or improve the documentation that would be welcomed! Find the online docs at https://www.drupal.org/docs/contributed-modules/google-calendar-import and/or review the wizard and internal docs by installing the module on this issue: https://www.drupal.org/project/google_calendar/issues/3103215

Participant Level:

Participants for documentation side should have experience with Documentation preparation, and have seen the Drupal Admin UI.

Participants for the testing framework side should feel very comfortable using PHP 7 and have used PHP a testing framework with Drupal. Experience with mocking, fixtures, containers, phpunit, and API-based testing will be very useful.

Communication:

Initially in the comments below and the Issue Queues, but if a group forms we can also use Slack on a channel to be agreed on here.
